Follower Friday: regipanda

Follower Fridays is a series of profiles highlighting members of Gaysian
Third Space to showcase the diversity of gaysians in the Community.
This week’s featured member is @regipanda.

Who are you?

I am Reginald or regipanda for most of my everything. Defining myself as a lazy millennial who spends their time watching gaming videos while playing Puzzles and Dragons; while also dancing for school and working to get to a better future for myself.

Where are you from?

I was born on a naval base in Subic Bay, Philippines. However when Mt. Pinatubo erupted, I moved here to California. I moved around but don’t remember any of that (or the volcano) and first memory is living in San Diego.

What do you do?

Currently, I serve realness at an up-and-coming Asian Fusion Restaurant/Bar/Karaoke/Nightclub (idk what we are) as well as a part-time student mostly enrolled in the performing arts.

What are you passionate about?

Gaming, it’s my favorite way of escapism from the harsh realities that we face. Next to that is dancing, for the ability to express oneself in ways when words just aren’t enough.

On a different note, the API and the LGBTQ community are big to me. As they are part of how I define myself, I want to figure out my own way to help them foster and grow and be better versions tomorrow.

What is your dream job (real or fantasy)?

To be able to perform on stage and be paid for it is a lovely fantasy but currently I limit myself to just collegiate shows. Maybe one day ;P

Realistically, I don’t have any dream job but I know I want to help people. Currently, that means applying for graduate programs so I can get an MPH in Health Administration and take on an administrative role for a hospital or community program.

If you could change the world with one idea, what would it be?

“[Helping people is] to be someone who understands others. Not to change people so they can overcome their problems, but to make people recognize where they’re standing, and cherish themselves the way they are now by giving their backs a push.”
