In light of
the Trump Administration’s decision to not count LGBT Americans in the 2020
census (essentially erasing us from federal data) alongside the recent release
of Hollywood’s Ghost in the Shell, I’d like to take a week to examine some of
the ways Gaysians have been reduced – be it marginalized in the media,
trivialized in the workplace, or made invisible altogether.
start the week with the most recent episode of the Yellowface podcast, in which
Jason and Diane discuss Jordan Peele’s Get Out (spoiler free!), the awkward
experience of being simultaneously accommodated and reduced to simply being
person of color, and differing viewpoints on when your (white) significant
other confront racism on your behalf.
