Who are you?
My name is Jeronimo.
Where are you from?
I’m from LA/OC. I’ve moved throughout the area. I was born in Montebello. But Montebello, Cypress, and La Puente have equally raised me.
My father moved here from Metro Manila at a very young age. My mother was born here, but my grandmother on her side is from Tacloban, and my grandfather, Metro Manila
What do you do?
I’m a full-time student at my local community college. Right now I’m an Accounting Major, but my major tends to change with the week. I’m working towards UH Manoa, but UCLA, CSULB, and UCI are also on my mind.
I’m really involved with student government and clubs. I’m the Inter-Club Council Representative for the LGBTQ+ club and the Feminist club on campus.
What are you passionate about?
I live for dance, it’s like my spirituality. Hip hop is really interesting. I’m taking a class on hip hop dance and history right now and I love it. Also, I’m currently in a Tahitian dance group and have been for around 7 months now. I’m so excited about learning Tahitian culture and dance, it’s always the highlight of my week.
I deeply feel for the struggle of ethnic and racial minorities, esp. in the US, and I’m trying to educate myself on how to better participate in that kind of activism.
What is your dream job (real or fantasy)?
I aim to be a CPA, maybe one day I can start my own practice. It’s just a fantasy, but I’ve always wanted to be a model, or an actor.
If you could change the world with one idea, what would it be?
A thorough understanding of the other is so important to creating a compassionate society.
