Here’s Why I Walked Around Seoul Dressed As Drag Queen ‘Hurricane Kimchi’:

Art and activism are often closely intertwined and here, Heezy Yang as ‘Hurricane Kimchi’ is an embodiment of that intersection. Drag has always been a political act to subvert and complicate gender expression through exaggerated make-up and over-the-top fashion and Heezy borrows this aesthetic to raise the visibility on sexual minorities in Korea. And while his one-man protest/performance won’t change Korean society overnight, it represents a spark in the global queer liberation movement.
